Personalised Online Tutoring, Built Around What the Learner Needs
From regular one-to-one tuition to exam preparation, assessment and more flexible support, we work with learners across the UK and internationally from primary through GCSE, IGCSE and post-16.
Support can complement school, provide structured teaching for home education, target a particular subject or qualification, or focus on specific gaps and goals.
Getting Started
Not every learner needs the same type of starting session. We can recommend the most appropriate option based on what you are looking for, the learner's current situation and how much assessment is likely to be useful.
Initial Consultation
A conversation-led starting point to gather information, understand what support you are looking for, set initial goals and begin building rapport. This can be useful where a detailed academic assessment is not needed. You will receive a short summary following the consultation, including the suggested next step.
Initial Assessment Session
A focused assessment process to establish the learner's current starting point, identify strengths and areas requiring support, and help us recommend appropriate next steps. Depending on the learner, subject and level, we may ask for work to be completed before the live session so the tutor can review and mark it in advance. The live element may then be shorter and used to explore understanding, discuss findings and get to know how the learner approaches their work. You will receive a short written summary with suggested next steps.
Comprehensive Diagnostic & Planning Session
A more detailed diagnostic and planning process for learners who would benefit from a deeper assessment of current needs, subject knowledge and approach to learning. This includes a fuller written assessment and personalised learning plan shared with parents. It can be particularly useful where a family is planning longer-term or bespoke support, including home education.
Initial assessments can also be booked as a standalone service. There is no obligation to continue with Plan For Success afterwards. The written summary and suggested next steps are yours to use whether or not you choose ongoing tutoring with us.
Ongoing 1:1 Tutoring
Ongoing tutoring is planned around what the learner actually needs rather than a predetermined programme. For some learners, that means strengthening particular skills or filling gaps alongside school. For others, it may involve structured teaching towards a GCSE or IGCSE, supporting a home education programme, or preparing for an examination.
The tutor builds on what they learn about the student over time, adapting the pace, explanations, resources and level of challenge as needs develop.
Alongside school
Target difficult topics, consolidate classroom learning and address gaps before they grow.
GCSE & IGCSE
Develop subject knowledge, application, exam technique and targeted past-paper practice.
Home education
From individual subjects to structured longer-term teaching, shaped around the learner's pathway and goals.
Foundations & confidence
Rebuild understanding where learning has become difficult, overwhelming or fragmented, at an appropriate pace.
Ongoing subscriptions secure a regular weekly session and include tailored planning and preparation, access to Google Classroom and Google Chat, relevant tailored subject resources that can support consolidation, independent study and appropriate stretch between sessions, brief weekly feedback via Google Classroom and one end-of-year review call of up to 30 minutes.
Flexible & Ad Hoc Tutoring
Not every learner needs weekly tuition. Ad hoc sessions can be useful for a particular topic, short-term revision, preparation before an assessment, support during a school transition or occasional targeted academic support.
Ad hoc sessions are subject to tutor availability and remaining capacity, with ongoing students prioritised. Where available, we will consider the subject, level and goal when allocating the tutor.
Support Beyond the Live Lesson
Some learners and families need additional professional input outside regular lesson time. These services are optional and charged separately from ongoing tutoring unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Exam Paper Marking
Past papers and mock papers can be marked with written feedback identifying strengths, areas for improvement and practical priorities. An optional 30-minute online feedback session can also be booked where available.
Marking & Feedback Between Sessions
Work requiring review or marking outside scheduled lesson time can be booked separately. A quote is agreed in advance before any additional marking takes place. Where homework has been set and the learner found it challenging, support with that homework can be incorporated into the following scheduled session at no extra charge.
Written Progress Reports
Structured termly written reports are available separately for families who would like a fuller overview of strengths, progress, current priorities, emerging barriers where relevant and recommended next steps. These are reflective progress reports written by the tutor. They are not formal diagnostic or statutory assessments.
Parent Consultation Calls
Standalone parent consultations are available for families who want dedicated time to discuss home education, worldschooling, learning pathways, additional support needs, anxiety, non-linear learning journeys or whether tutoring may be appropriate. These calls are advisory and do not include written reports or follow-up work unless separately agreed.
What You Can Expect From Us
One-to-one teaching
The tutor's attention is focused on one learner and their educational goals.
Thoughtful tutor matching
We consider subject, level, goals and the kind of teaching approach the learner is likely to respond to.
Teaching that adapts
Pace, explanations, resources and level of challenge can develop as the tutor understands the learner better.
Clear communication
Learning communication and brief ongoing feedback are managed through Google Classroom for ongoing students, with additional consultation and reporting available separately where needed.
Interactive online learning
Sessions are designed for active participation rather than simply watching a tutor work through material. Ongoing students also have access to Google Classroom and Google Chat, plus relevant tailored subject resources selected to support consolidation, independent study and appropriate stretch between sessions.
Safeguarding & professionalism
Tutors hold enhanced DBS checks (the UK’s official criminal background check for working with children) and work within Plan For Success safeguarding and professional communication procedures.
Tutoring That Works Across Different Educational Routes
We support learners attending school, home educating, studying internationally or learning while travelling. Some families want targeted support alongside an existing curriculum. Others need a tutor to take greater responsibility for teaching a subject over time. The approach can reflect the learner's real educational context rather than assuming everyone follows the same route.
Not sure what level of support your learner needs?
You do not need to work that out before contacting us. Tell us what is happening now, what you are hoping to achieve and anything you think we should know. We can then recommend an appropriate next step.
