Our Tutoring Team
Our tutors bring a broad range of subject expertise and experience across primary, secondary, GCSE, IGCSE and post-16 learning. We support school educated, home educated and international learners, with one-to-one tutoring shaped around the individual rather than a standard programme.
All tutors hold enhanced DBS checks and complete regular safeguarding training. We also consider the learner, subject, level, goals and preferred way of working when deciding which tutor is likely to be the strongest fit.
Every learner is different. We take time to understand what support is needed before recommending a tutor, so the match reflects the learner as well as the subject.

Sophie
Founder | English, Humanities & Social Sciences | GCSE & Post-16
"Relationship-led tutoring that develops confident thinking, writing and understanding."
Best for: English, Psychology, Sociology, History, Religious Studies and Health and Social Care, particularly for learners who benefit from discussion, clear explanations and support developing written responses and exam technique.
Sophie founded Plan For Success and brings a professional background spanning education, social care, youth homelessness, advocacy and children’s rights. That experience has shaped a relationship-led approach which considers confidence, communication and the learner’s wider educational experience alongside academic progress.
She specialises in English, Humanities and Social Sciences, with particular experience supporting learners in Psychology, Sociology, History, Religious Studies and Health and Social Care. Much of her work focuses on helping learners understand complex ideas, develop stronger written responses and communicate their knowledge confidently.
Her wider educational experience also allows her to support younger learners across the curriculum, including Welsh, where appropriate. As a home-educating parent with first-hand experience of learning while travelling internationally, she also understands educational routes that do not always fit neatly into a conventional school model.

Mike specialises in Maths, Science and Computer Science, supporting learners from primary through to A Level. He is known for his calm, patient approach, breaking complex ideas into simple, manageable steps so learners build genuine understanding rather than memorised methods.
He also supports Marine Science at GCSE and A Level and brings real enthusiasm for the subject. As a keen scuba diver, Mike often draws on marine environments to make science tangible.
His structured, step-by-step approach works well for exam preparation and for any learner who benefits from clarity and consistency, whether they are in school, home educated or studying flexibly.

Sarah
Health and Social Care and Sociology Specialist | Registered Nurse | TEFL Qualified | KS1 to A Level
"Structured, supportive sessions that build subject knowledge and exam skills."
Best for: Health and Social Care and Sociology at GCSE and A Level, plus Biology, English and Maths from KS1 upwards. Also suited to learners developing English as an additional language alongside their studies.
Sarah specialises in Health and Social Care and Sociology. She also tutors English, Maths and Biology, supporting learners from KS1 through to A Level and helping them develop a clear understanding of key concepts.
As a registered nurse, Sarah brings real world insight into every session. This is particularly valuable for Health and Social Care at GCSE and A Level, where learners need to connect theory to practice and write confident, well-evidenced answers.
Sarah also holds a TEFL qualification and supports learners developing English as an additional language alongside their studies. Her sessions are structured, calm and tailored to the individual learner, with a strong focus on exam preparation where that is the goal.

Nicky
Primary Tutor | Additional Learning Needs
"Helping younger learners feel safe, understood and confident enough to learn."
Best for: Primary English, Maths and Science, additional learning needs, anxious learners, confidence building and children who benefit from a calm, highly personalised approach.
Nicky specialises in supporting primary-aged children across the core subjects, helping younger learners develop strong foundations while building confidence in their abilities. Her calm and reassuring approach is particularly suited to children who need time, trust and an individual way into learning.
She brings several years of experience working within specialist educational provision, supporting children with additional learning needs and those who can find engaging with education more challenging. Nicky has particular experience around childhood anxiety and restrictive eating, including PICA and ARFID, and understands how important it is to adapt expectations, pace and approach to the individual child.
Before moving into education, Nicky worked within the police, including supporting schools around safeguarding. She has also worked closely with vulnerable children and families, bringing empathy, patience and consistency to her work. In tutoring sessions, Nicky takes time to build a positive relationship with each learner, creating a supportive space where they can ask questions, make mistakes and gradually develop greater confidence and independence.
How We Match Tutors and Learners
The right subject knowledge matters, but so does the relationship between tutor and learner. We consider the learner's current level, goals, confidence, subject requirements and the kind of teaching approach they are likely to respond to before recommending a tutor.
We look at the curriculum, qualification and academic support required.
We consider pace, confidence, communication and how the learner tends to engage best.
We recommend the tutor whose expertise and approach appear most appropriate for the learner's needs.
Not sure which tutor might suit your learner?
Tell us a little about the learner and the support you are looking for. We can talk through the options and recommend the tutor we believe is most appropriate.
