About Plan For Success
Good tutoring starts with understanding the learner
Plan For Success provides personalised one-to-one online tutoring for learners across the UK and internationally. We work with families looking for thoughtful, individual support, whether that means strengthening foundations, preparing for exams, supporting home education or finding an approach that better suits the learner.
Find the Right SupportWhy Plan For Success Exists
Plan For Success grew from a simple principle: effective one-to-one tuition should adapt to the learner, rather than expecting the learner to adapt to a standard programme.
The business was founded by Sophie, whose professional background spans education, tutoring, social care, youth homelessness, children's rights and advocacy. Years spent working alongside children, young people and families shaped an approach that looks beyond a mark on a test paper. Confidence, relationships, circumstances and the way an individual learns all matter.
Sophie is also a home-educating parent and has first-hand experience of learning while travelling internationally. That perspective gives Plan For Success a practical understanding of educational routes that do not always fit neatly into a conventional school model, while the service also supports many learners who attend school and simply need more individual tuition alongside it.
Today, Plan For Success is a small team of carefully selected tutors with complementary subject expertise and professional backgrounds. Families are matched with the tutor best suited to the learner, subject and goals, rather than being placed into a standardised programme. Plan For Success is founder-led, but it is a wider tutoring team, not a one-person service.
What Parents Tell Us
"My child has lost all confidence"
We prioritise relationship-building and create a calm, supportive starting point before deciding how quickly to move into academic content.
"The usual approach isn't working"
Sometimes a learner needs a different explanation, pace or structure. One-to-one tuition gives us room to adapt rather than forcing the learner through a fixed programme.
"I don't know how far behind they are"
You do not need to arrive with all the answers. We can establish the learner's starting point, identify priorities and recommend an appropriate way forward.
"They learn differently"
We have extensive experience supporting learners who benefit from a more individual and flexible approach, including learners who need a different approach and those with additional learning needs.
What We Believe
Trust comes first
Strong tutoring relationships matter. We take time to understand the learner, communicate clearly and create an environment where they can engage without unnecessary pressure.
Every learner is different
We look at starting point, goals, confidence, interests and learning preferences, then adapt the teaching rather than relying on a standard lesson sequence.
Consistency matters
Where possible, learners work consistently with the same tutor so that knowledge, confidence and relationships can build over time. We also understand that families sometimes need flexibility.
Learning without unnecessary pressure
We can be encouraging without lowering expectations. The pace and level of challenge should be appropriate to the learner and their goals.
Every family is different
School educated, home educated, internationally based or learning while travelling, families come to us with different circumstances. Support should make sense for the learner's real life, not just fit a standard timetable.
