Question 1

How are subscription payments structured?

Accepted Answer

Subscriptions are paid in 11 equal monthly instalments from September to July. This provides predictability for families and allows tutors to plan carefully. We also offer ad hoc sessions for short-term or one-off support.

Question 2

Do I have to pay monthly?

Accepted Answer

For regular ongoing support, yes. Subscriptions are paid by monthly Stripe subscription in 11 equal instalments covering September to July. There are no sessions in August and no separate August charge. Continuing students pay their September instalment by 1 August to secure their slot, with subsequent instalments running from October to July. Standalone services, such as initial assessments and consultations, are charged upfront and separately.

Question 3

How do I rearrange a session?

Accepted Answer

Sessions run at a fixed weekly time, so rearrangements are limited. If you need to move a session, please give at least one week's notice as soon as you become aware, by emailing admin@planforsuccesstutoring.com. Each family can rearrange one session per academic year, a rearranged session cannot be rearranged again, and sessions cannot be moved into school holidays. In exceptional emergencies we may use our discretion, so please get in touch and we will do our best to help.

Question 4

What if my child hasn't thrived in a traditional classroom?

Accepted Answer

Many of the children we work with have found school challenging or have lost confidence along the way. Our tutors are patient, flexible, and experienced in adapting to how each child learns best. We focus on rebuilding confidence first, then steady progress.

Question 5

Why do you not use labels when talking about children?

Accepted Answer

We take a strengths-based approach to learning. That means we focus first on how a child learns best, what motivates them, and where they feel confident, rather than defining them by a label. Many families come to us after school has been difficult or confidence has dropped. In our experience, removing labels helps children feel safer, more capable, and more open to learning. This does not mean we ignore challenges. Tutors adapt sessions carefully and thoughtfully, but the focus remains on understanding the learner as an individual, not on categories or diagnoses. Parents are always welcome to share anything they feel is important. We simply choose to keep our language child-centred, positive, and respectful.

Question 6

What if we live outside the UK?

Accepted Answer

We support families worldwide. We've worked with worldschooling families, expat communities, and international schools across different time zones.

Question 7

Will I get regular updates?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All subscriptions include brief weekly feedback via Google Classroom, plus one end-of-year review call of up to 30 minutes. If you would like more, detailed written reports and additional consultation calls are available and charged separately. These are not included in any subscription tier.

Question 8

What happens if there's a technical issue?

Accepted Answer

It depends on where the problem is. If the issue is on your side and cannot be resolved within 10 minutes, the session will end and your tutor can set optional homework to cover the remaining time. If the issue is on our side, the remaining time will be added to a future session or offered as a separate, mutually agreed shorter session. Google Chat is available for immediate access or technical issues during sessions only.

Question 9

Do I have to commit long term?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. Standalone initial assessments, consultations and ad hoc sessions can be booked without any commitment to ongoing tutoring. If you do take out a subscription, this reserves your weekly slot and requires 8 weeks' written notice by email to admin@planforsuccesstutoring.com to terminate. Subscriptions cannot be paused.

Question 10

Are all tutors background checked?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All our tutors hold enhanced DBS checks (the UK's official criminal background check for working with children) and complete regular safeguarding training.

Question 11

What age groups do you support?

Accepted Answer

We support learners from age 5 through to adulthood. Our tutors specialise in different age groups and subjects.

Question 12

How quickly can we start?

Accepted Answer

Often within a few days. After your initial consultation, we'll match you with an appropriate tutor and schedule your first session.

Question 13

What if my child doesn't connect with their tutor?

Accepted Answer

We'll work with you to find a different tutor who better suits your child's personality and learning style. The right match matters.
